New York City was one of the worst acts of terrorism anyone has ever witnessed, but there are some more out there that may rival in their atrocity. 6. Yazidi Communities Bombing

Known as the second deadliest bombings after 9/11, four suicide bombs went off on August 14th, 2007, in the towns of Yazidi and Jazeera. Two tons of explosives, 3 vehicles, and a fuel tanker helped level numerous buildings, killing 796 civilians and inuring 1,562 total.

5. Madrid Train Bombings
Known as “11-M,” the most tragic attack in European history occurred on March 11th, 2004. A series of synchronized terrorist attacks fell upon the Cercania commuter train in Madrid. The explosions lead to the deaths of 191 individuals, while injuring many more.

4. SuperFerry 14 Bombings
In the deadliest terrorist attack to occur at sea, February 27, 2004, marked the day the SuperFerry 14 sunk just 90 minutes after leaving the port of Manila. Brought about by an Islamist terrorist group, the deaths of 116 people occurred on that boat. Four kilograms of TNT was the cause of the explosion.

3. London Transport Bombing
On July 7th, 2005, three explosions aboard the London Underground trains went off throughout the city. A fourth bomb exploded on a double-decker bus in Tavistock Square. These terrorist assaults happened just one day after the city was chosen for the 2012 Summer Olympics. In total, the attack lasted 57 minutes and brought about the deaths of 52 civilians, 4 suicide bombers, and with 700 more injured.

2. Sadr City Bombings
On November 23rd, 2006, an attack involving multiple car bombs and two mortar attacks struck the city of Sadr in Baghdad. 215 people were killed while 257 more were injured in the assault. The resulting 24-hour curfew and shutdown of the International Airport brought a lot of disturbance.

Everyone knows the date by heart: September 11, 2001. On this fateful day in history, four coordinated assaults were launched against New York City and Washington DC. Four airplanes, hijacked by 19 assailants, collided into the NYC World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and another was aimed at the Capitol, but never made it. Over 3,000 died in the attacks.
