A few years back, Stephen Wiltshire became notorious for drawing huge detailed images of cities like New York City with immense amounts of details only after flying over it for thirty minutes; the fact that made the story even more spectacular.
It brought the conversation regarding autism to the forefront and really helped many understand what it really was. What is amazing is that most people autism are simply savant at one particular thing – mainly a form of art. Just google autistic artists and you will be amazed with what you’ll come across.
We’ll share something from one of such maestros with you to get you started on your search!
Posted below is a day in life of an 11 year old autistic boy. He was invited by his father (a professor) to come to one of his classes. During the class, he drew a very detailed depiction of the world map – with political boundaries and even a few islands – from memory alone!
A student in the class decided to capture the monumentous experience through her phone. The photos were then uploaded onto Reddit by her father – who also has an autistic daughter and was simply amazed by this young man’s ability.
We hope that this young boy gets tons of encouragement by all around him to develop his skills; one can only imagine how great he could be someday seeing how amazing his talent is as is.
The photos taken by the student are in the video below. We encourage you to pause the video so you can really check out the details in his drawings.
