Today's businesses look different than they did 10 or 20 years ago. Things have changed significantly and will only continue to evolve as time goes on. With that said, who are today's business leaders that every other business is competing with? Read on to learn more about the biggest businesses of today.
Apple
The previously luxury tech company has become so ubiquitous with accessible technology that it has almost taken over the entire world. At the beginning of 2022, Apple became the first company to reach a $3 billion trading market cap, indicative of its reach and favorability in the market. What makes Apple unique is that it steadily improves its unique products while also putting a lot of resources and time into research and development. For example, Apple has been working on an electric car project for numerous years, and they should release it by 2025.
Microsoft
Microsoft is one of the biggest businesses in the world today and is also one of the most influential. Microsoft is unique and competitive because it embraces newer technologies like the cloud and runs with it. One significant development Microsoft has made in the last decade is its Microsoft Azure tool, a cloud computing service that can help relieve smaller businesses' numerous cloud management headaches. Innovations like this make Microsoft the top in their field and are why they'll only continue to grow.
Saudi Aramco
While Apple and Microsoft are both tech companies, that doesn't mean tech is the only profitable industry. Oil and gas are also incredibly popular and profitable, though that may change in the future. Saudi Aramco is a Saudi Arabian oil and gas company that has been mining and refining petrochemicals for almost 100 years. They are the largest source of oil in the world currently. Still, as more countries, including Saudi Arabia itself, transition to greener energy, Saudi Aramco may need to do things differently.
Amazon
Everyone is familiar with Amazon, and it's wild to see how much it has transformed in the last decades. Like many of its competitors, Amazon has spent a lot of time and resources diversifying what it does and has seen tremendous success. Amazon has also invested in other businesses, such as Whole Foods and Twitch, and it will likely continue to do so to gain as much ground as possible. However, Amazon may struggle with its model in the future as they are currently running out of people to sustain its business.
These are today's biggest businesses, but who knows where they'll be in the next decade? The business world is rapidly changing and these businesses, while they have existed for a while, were not always dominant. They are the market leaders, but the market is also unpredictable and unforgiving.
