A few Northern California medical marijuana dispensaries have decided to give patients that were affected by the recent wildfires up to $200 in free cannabis. Two of the companies will begin offering the free marijuana products at five dispensaries located in Santa Rosa, Lake County, San Francisco and Sebastopol throughout October 7th.
The patients that are eligible for the free products must have a valid medical marijuana prescription and a home address located in Middletown, Cobb, Hidden Valley Lake and Kelseyville. Those communities were the ones hit the hardest by the wildfire that destroyed about 118 square miles. The wildfire also destroyed more than 1,950 homes and caused the death of four people.
The two companies, AbsoluteXtracts and Care by Design donated over $20,000 worth of marijuana-filled products to the dispensaries in the Northern California areas. In a released statement, the companies said they hope that their gestures will help those in need after they’ve lost almost everything they owned.
“Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate their homes, leaving them with restricted access to essential daily items—including medical marijuana. This disaster happened in our own backyard. As a company that prides itself on putting patient needs first, we felt there was no better time to reach out and help our neighbors in their time of need.”
