An ex-model suffers from an extremely uncommon disorder that is leading her to starve to death. 32-year-old Lisa Brown weighs 89lbs and cannot consume solid foods without suffering nausea, serious pain and vomiting.
Back in 2013, she was diagnosed with a gastrovascular disorder known as Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS) that leads to a pinching of her intestines, making it difficult to keep solid food down. Lisa saw her weight drop by 30%, from 140lbs to 89lbs, in just under two years. The former model said that she was healthy, social and vibrant and now she is in constant pain, depends on others and she is confined to her home most of the time.
Brown has undergone multiple surgeries to correct her digestive problem; however, nothing has worked as yet and her future remains in doubt. Each day, she hooks herself up to a stomach feeding tube to give her the nutrients she requires to live. SMAS is a life-threatening disorder that affects less than 1% of the population and has a 30% chance of death.
