Narrowing Jennifer Lopez's best looks down to just 25 is basically an impossible task. Like, Mission Impossible 5 could be about making this list. But in honor of J.Lo's birthday, we weeded through years of cutouts, fur jackets, and insane hat game to do just that.
1997
Jennifer Lopez showed up to the 69th Annual Academy Awards in a embroidered Badgley Mischka gown looking like a million bucks. Sure, her hair gives off major There's Something About Mary vibes, but honestly, we don't even hate it.
1998
J.Lo went for a more modern silhouette at the 55th Annual Golden Globes, and she looks *chef kiss* perfection. This is also her first foray into showing off her abs in red carpet dresses (but not her last).
1998
Fact: Jenny from the Block did the whole naked dress thing better than your faves all the way back in 1998. Also, who else thinks functionless shawls should come back in style?
2000
This might be her most iconic red carpet gown of all time. The place? The Grammy Awards. The designer? Versace. The Internet in 2000? BROKEN over this moment.
2000
Does anyone else remember seeing J.Lo roll into the MTV Video Music Awards in this outfit and realizing they needed to cut all their shirts into crop tops immediately? Same.
2002
We can all agree that Jennifer nailed it in Versace during the 2002 Academy Awards. And you know what they say: the higher the hair, the closer to becoming an icon worthy of a fashion roundup.
2002
This outfit - which J.Lo wore to the premiere of Enough - doesn't get nearly enough credit. Don't you just love that she rolled into this event looking straight outta a 1960s prom? Too good.
2004
Unclear: Why Jennifer Lopez wore a knitted beret, khaki capris, and a sequined shrug to the Kids Choice Awards. Clear: It goes down in history as one of her most memorable fashion moments.
2006
Jennifer hit up the Academy Awards in a vintage Jean Dessès gown back in 2006, a daring decision that 100% paid off. In fact, we can definitely see her wearing this circa right now.
2009
J.Lo rocked this Marchesa gown at the Golden Globes, and basically looked like she was dripping liquid gold the entire night.
2011
We all know J.Lo loves herself an ab cutout, and the Emilio Pucci gown she wore to the BAFTAs might be our favorite. Also, fun fact: she met Kate Middleton and Prince William this night!
2012
Our girl Jenny from the Block doesn't get enough credit for her street style during the mid-aughts, but she turned. it. out. for the paparazzi. Here she is wearing a massive white (hopefully not real) fur jacket.
2012
J.Lo's Zuhair Murad dress at the Academy Awards was gasp-inducingly gorgeous - and will undoubtedly go down as one of the best Oscar dresses of all time.
2012
Please be advised that J.Lo slays just as much during her shows as she does on the red carpet. The only evidence you need is this picture.
2014
This is a super simple street-style moment, but proves how sleek Jennifer's fashion is even when she's in jeans and a t-shirt.
2014
Here's J.Lo serving yacht club rich person realness in Versace. But again, don't be fooled by the rocks that she's got - she's just, she's just Jenny from the Block.
2014
Did we not tell you how much J.Lo loves a cutout? Here she is in Charbel Zoe at the Video Music Awards, a pretty striking change from her 2000 VMA bandana look.
2015
Hello, and welcome to this photo of J.Lo looking like an angel in Elie Saab at the 2015 Oscars. Not a lot of people can pull off wearing nude without being washed out, but J.Lo isn't your average person.
2015
Name a better Met Gala look than Jennifer Lopez in this naked Versace dragon dress, we'll wait.
2015
Who has time for dresses with ab cutouts when you can just wear a Charbel Zoe dress that doesn't have any material on the front of your body whatsoever? Ingenious!
2015
J.Lo's whimsical Valentino at the Tony Awards is a pretty big departure from her usual red carpet style, but proves that she can own any look. Also, high-five to her makeup artist that night.
2016
Ahh, 2016: the year everyone was obsessed with capes. And while not everyone can pull off a bright yellow cape with a high slit, we've already established that J.Lo can pull off anything.
2017
Look, could most people get away with a neck ruffle? No. Could most people wear this Ralph and Russo dress and look like an actual goddesses? No. Can Jennifer Lopez? Yes.
2017
Here's J.Lo throwing it back to the 1960s again, this time in a Valentino gown just as billowy as it is breath-taking. She wore this to last year's Met Gala.
2018
To quote Kanye West, "bow in the presence of greatness." Because J.Lo in Balmain at the Met Gala is as great as it gets.
