10 Of The Best And Worst Olympic Team Outfits In History

The Olympics is the one event that truly involves the entire planet, so it makes logical sense that countries would try to outdo one another in order to make the biggest fashion statement. Some nations hit a fashion home run, while others go the route of vomit-inducing. Let’s review the best and the worst of Olympic garb…

1. Team Czech Republic – 2014 Winter Olympics
It’s Davey Crockett meets an eastern European disco… on Halloween. But seriously, these are incredible!

2. Team Estonia – 2014 Winter Olympics
They say that eastern Europe is big on 80’s music. I would have never guessed. “What is Love?!”

3. Team USA – 1980 Winter Olympics
The miracle on ice wasn’t the only miracle in 1980. The American men came rolling through the Winter Olympics ceremonies in Lake Placid wearing cowboy attire.

4. Team South Korea – 1992 Winter Olympics
Appropriate outfits given the cool conditions in Albertville, France, but also slightly hilarious.

5. Team Australia – 1992 Summer Olympics
In the Aussie-est of uniforms, this squad was going for the tourist casual look. Kudos to the shoes… it’s all in the shoes.

6. Team Netherlands – 2008 Summer Olympics
These might be the greatest, slickest looking outfits in sports history. Leave fashion to the Dutch, they obviously know what looks great.

7. Team Mexico – 2012 Summer Olympics
During the opening ceremonies in London, Team Mexico came out in extremely traditional clothing. Extremely.

8. Team Russia – 1996 Summer Olympics
The 1996 Atlanta Games were celebrated in full colors by Russia. Incidentally, they traveled straight from the stadium to perform at a child’s birthday party.

9. Team Japan – 2004 Summer Olympics
There’s nothing wrong with expressing your culture during the Olympics opening ceremonies, but this is a little bit above and beyond.

10. Team USA – 2014 Winter Olympics
And the winner is… 2014 Team USA! Let’s applaud Ralph Lauren for this creative design work.
