Kevin Carter, a New Jersey priest, has been arrested for pulling a handgun from his uniform an pointing it at an eight-year-old boy who is said to have been a fan of the popular football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Bergen County prosecutors are saying the priest, who served at St. Margaret of Cortona Roman Catholic Church within Little Ferry, New Jersey, asked the boy to follow him into a private area. Carter, a New York Giants fan, had discovered the boy was a fan of his rival sports team.
Carter told the boy to stand facing the wall, he then pointed a civil war musket at the eight-year-old. Bergen County prosecutor John Molinelli said: “As he raised his weapon and pointed it at the boy, he said, ‘I’m going to shoot you.'” One parishioner witnessed the entire ordeal, reporting it to the police.
Carter has been arrested and is being held on bail for $15,000.
